Compressor Reed Valve - f350ca - 08-11-2014 I have a surface air pump for diving. It uses an oilless compressor driven by a small Honda gas engine. While using it today the flow rate dropped and the blowoff valve quit popping. Tore it apart and found one of the stainless steel reed valves on the output had snapped. Looks like there may have been some sticky material on the face next to the brake, it may have been hitting the seat and causing the reed to flex beyond it and led to a fatigue failure. Will try and order a new one but can anyone come up with a reason not to make a temporary replacement out of brass shim stock. No idea where I'd source .010 stainless locally and it probably needs to be a special alloy to take the flexing. Its an odd three petal shape, sort of like a clover leaf so doubt if I could find one out of a two stroke engine to fit. Thanks |
