Colchester Bantam Lathe - PLUTO - 02-19-2014 hi guys i am looking to buy a COLCHESTER BANTAM LATHE it is being sold with standard imperial thread cutting gears would anyone know what transision gears i would need to cut metric threads thanks IAN RE: COLCHESTER BANTAM LATHE - stevec - 02-19-2014 Ian, firstly And secondly, the only transition gear I know of would be a 127 tooth gear but I don't know what metric pitches the transitioned TPI settings would produce. Someday I may have to do the math but so far any metric threading has been done on my 16x60 which has both metric and inch pitches on its threading charts. RE: COLCHESTER BANTAM LATHE - EdK - 02-19-2014 Welcome to the forum Ian. Which version of the Bantam is it? http://www.lathes.co.uk/bantam/ Ed RE: COLCHESTER BANTAM LATHE - PLUTO - 02-19-2014 (02-19-2014, 08:40 AM)EdK Wrote: Welcome to the forum Ian. I think it would be the MK1 800 RPM with 30" centers. I am just looking at it as the lathe I have is 100 years old and has no metric it's a Lang of Jonstone Glasgow. RE: Colchester Bantam Lathe - doubleboost - 02-19-2014 Hi Ian I had the same lathe You need the 100 / 127 gear to convert ether way Welcome to the forum John |
