The FrankenGrinder - MikeWi - 11-21-2013

Got this for free from a machinist on another forum who advertised it as a horizontal mill. Well it ain't that, but it should be good for some things anyway, and it's free.
turns out it's from parts of two different grinding systems, and the base is really old, which automatically makes it cool in my book. LOL

Ooops, bit of difference between a grinder and a mill. Excellent candidate to be cleaned up and put to play. LOL

Good score. I'd sure have fun getting something like that up and running.

I love fixing old equipment, so yeah, it's fun. I finished disassembling the grinder section last night and discovered that the gib was replaced with a tiny piece of key stock under one screw! Now I'm glad I had to go to the trouble. Now I have to remove all the rust, make a new gib and put it all back together. Oh and find a different motor most likely. The one that came with it is 1/4HP and my manual says it was originally 1/2HP.
