Wood/log Store - DaveH - 08-24-2013 Here is my next project - a wood/log store. Mostly made from timber but the bracing at the back is steel [attachment=6135] I should have mentioned it will be 2m long x 2m high x 1m deep barring any accidents. DaveH RE: Wood Store - DaveH - 08-24-2013 Here is a pdf. If you download it give it a few seconds then click the button "Click to activate" it should allow you to orient the sketch (hopefully) [attachment=6136] DaveH RE: Wood/log Store - EdK - 08-24-2013 What CAD program did you use to draw that? SketchUp? Ed RE: Wood/log Store - f350ca - 08-24-2013 A friend has two smaller ones that he puts on the veranda in the spring and fall. Nice clean way to stack wood. On your design, if you move the side slats to the inside of the vertical supports the fasteners won't be holding all the load. RE: Wood/log Store - DaveH - 08-24-2013 Ed, Alibre, it was called Alibre Design Personal Edition, now it is called Geomagic Cubify Design. What a bluddy stupid name. Although the web site is still Alibre?? http://www.alibre.com/ DaveH RE: Wood/log Store - DaveH - 08-24-2013 (08-24-2013, 09:20 AM)f350ca Wrote: On your design, if you move the side slats to the inside of the vertical supports the fasteners won't be holding all the load. That's true, it just don't look so nice My wood working skills are limited to the "Two S's" Saw and Screw ........the sketch is just the starting point, the chances of it ending up anything like the sketch are somewhat remote DaveH RE: Wood/log Store - DaveH - 08-25-2013 A bit of hacking, sawing and 72 screws later - One Base [attachment=6154] And surprisingly it resembles the sketch DaveH RE: Wood/log Store - EdK - 08-25-2013 Good start Dave. Ed RE: Wood/log Store - DaveH - 08-25-2013 Thanks Ed, it looks like a 'pallet' DaveH RE: Wood/log Store - DaveH - 08-26-2013 Finished both sides and given it a coat of wood preservative. And just to note the sides are upside down. [attachment=6171] DaveH |
