Hi Lo Shifter handle - dallen - 07-27-2013 I started on this pattern yesterday for the Hi Lo shifter in the Shaper, the original was broken off and all I have is the boss that has the shaft hole in it, plus the shafts bent but I have a new one made already. so Pictures I didn't start taking any till after I had most of the wood work down. the pattern all glued up and waiting on sanding. this picture shows a goof up on my part that wouldn't work in a pattern that had to make a lot of parts the handle should of been set deeper into the boss so a screw could of been put in, actually a match plate should of been made. Ed asked the other day about the special pattern paint I use, so I included a picture of the can. this is the first coat of paint, I will sand it down and do some touch up work around the joint then finish paint it. supervisors always pushing me to get more done DA RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - EdK - 07-27-2013 It must be break time for the supervisor. Ed RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - doubleboost - 07-27-2013 Nice pattern but the colour is horrid John RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - DaveH - 07-27-2013 The dog looks dead DaveH RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - dallen - 07-27-2013 now John thats one of the midwest farming colors called John Deere Green. Dave he isn't dead if you look you can see him watching me out of his left eye. I didn't ram it hard enough on the cope so the sand tore around the edge of the boss but other wise it made a nice handle DA RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - doubleboost - 07-27-2013 It is much better than my miserable attempt today I moulded the pattern for my dividing head 4 times and could not get the pattern out of the sand properly Started on a much simpler pattern John RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - tekfab - 07-27-2013 (07-27-2013, 03:35 PM)doubleboost Wrote: It is much better than my miserable attempt today Bound to be a few "bastards" in the next video ! RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - dallen - 07-27-2013 now where is my tapered pin and reamer so I can finish this handle the original was pinned on with a tapered pin. RE: Hi Lo Shifter handle - oldgoaly - 07-27-2013 Little cast iron paint and no one would know it was aluminum! I've use cast iron paint on brass to "fake" someone that I had poured cast iron, had them for a few minutes, but I just can't keep a straight face very long! But when I do I have them hook, line and sinker! |
