Matthew RE: How to Wind a Coil Spring on the Metal Lathe - Highpower - 06-24-2013 Tom, what is the largest diameter wire that you have been able (or attempted) to wind on your lathe? RE: How to Wind a Coil Spring on the Metal Lathe - TomG - 06-24-2013 Willie, The largest I've wound is .080". In theroy, if your lathe has enough power and your wire guide and mandrel are stout enough you should be able to wind any diameter. On that web site I mentioned, the guy talks about what he calls large wire, from .3125" to .625" diameter. I think that's a bit out of my league. Tom |
