Good point Greg! I just didn't want to admit to that as well..... Big Grin

Have I posted this before?

It's a minor help in getting the point angles correct and equal.

You flaunted that thing before Steve Tool envy. Mine just has the rule on the angle thingy, with graduations too small for a magnifier.

Hey! If I'm not repeating myself about something it's because I've forgotten about it. Slaphead

The thing I like about your gauge Steve, is that you don't need to be able to see the markings on the scale. Just keep sliding it in until the drill tip fits in with no gap on either side. 6799

Willie - the tip could be ground to 118* or 135* with uneven length cutting edges, so the rule is there to ensure the lengths are equal. Here is mine off of eBay for a few bucks.

Yes. My point was that the scale on Steve's gauge is adjustable in how far it extends. Even if you ground off the markings on the scale, you could still use it to check for equal lengths.

Sorry Willie - I misunderstood your post.

No problem mate. They say the written word is one of the poorest forms of communication. Especially if I'm the one writing it.... Big Grin

I have one of these pieces of junk from SPI.

The scale is pinned to the sliding barrel. It would have been nice if they had the scale at the proper angle before they pinned it. It's not flush with the rule edge. The corners on the scale are rounded off and the graduations are wide and blurry. Angry

One of those regrettable purchases. Smiley-signs125
