Bandsaw Mods - DaveH - 03-08-2012
Hi,
Any one done any mods to their metal cutting bandsaw?

The only mod I've made so far for my band saw is to make a wooden stand. It was going to be temporary until I got around to welding up a steel stand but I like the way it works so I'm going to skip the steel stand. The wooden stand is low so if I need to cut off a piece of a long section of the stock I just stack a few 2x4s on the floor to rest the long end on while I cut off a chunk.
I do want to make a mod to hold small part to cut off.

I havent done many.
Made a new stand this is the first task we all seem to do

To help hold short pieces. Drilled and taped the movable jaw fitted a (adjusting) screw. As can be seen I still use a packing piece but I dont have to search around for the correct thickness I can just use the adjusting screw,

The last mod I put a brass wire wheel on to clean the blade.

Those are two mods I need to do to my band saw. I got the brass wire wheel sometime last year but have not taken the time to install them.

As I posted earlier the only mods so far would be a light and a small table!!
I wired the light in to the main power circuit.

With the brass wire wheel - does it run parallel to the blade or do the teeth run through the wire? I'm thinking the former but it is difficult to tell from the pic. I don't have a metal cutting bandsaw yet, but it is on my list.

Just deep enough to get the tips of the wires into the gullets of the teeth.
