History - Sunset Machine - 01-01-2013 They sure are handy. I found one for $100 and put a 110VAC motor on it, rumor has it that I should have gone RPC but this clapped out thing probably wouldn't know the difference. I use it for finishing, arbor spacers, HSS cutoffs and whizzing parallels to match each other. I've wondered about the history. Just recently there was a thread on practical machinist about it where I found this picture. Turns out the early grinders were converted planers.
