RE: Latest Delivery - Dr Stan - 05-09-2016 (05-09-2016, 10:46 PM)Vinny Wrote: I looked at the picture and was kinda lost. The star shaped objects are the cutters. The cylindrical parts align the keyway cutter in the bore and also are a 90 degree gearbox supplying power to the cutters. Now what's really bizarre is a square hole cutter. The only one I've ever seen was on the USS Samuel Gompers and was used on the radial arm drill press. It consisted of a gear box that had a MT in order to mount it in the spindle and a really weird three flute cutter. Very similar to this one: http://gizmodo.com/5849810/how-the-hell-can-this-magical-square-hole-drilling-machine-works RE: Latest Delivery - pepi - 05-10-2016 (05-09-2016, 10:46 PM)Vinny Wrote: I looked at the picture and was kinda lost. I could tell how the cutter and the wedge looking piece shown in your picture went together. Besides, it's ok if you are lost, you already know/use the tool. Greg :-) RE: Latest Delivery - Rob.Mueller - 05-10-2016 New metal stock for the shop. Found this at an auction. I still need to pick it up. Hopefully some of the local guys on this forum would like to purchase some of it, as it's too much for me. RE: Latest Delivery - Vinny - 05-10-2016 I might be interested in some. Any idea when you're picking it up? RE: Latest Delivery - Rob.Mueller - 05-10-2016 (05-10-2016, 05:35 PM)Vinny Wrote: I might be interested in some. Any idea when you're picking it up? this week I'll be bringing it home. Would like to get rid of some of it by the weekend. RE: Latest Delivery - TomG - 05-10-2016 Nice haul. I landed three tons of assorted aluminum, brass, steel and plastic at auction a number of years ago and have been using it ever since. You'll be amazed at what a lot like that is actually worth. Before you move it, do yourself a favor and spray paint each of the alloys a different color so there is no chance of getting it mixed up in the move. I might be interested in helping you defray some of your cost. I don't have much tool steel on hand.
