Rob

It's art, man.

RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 08-17-2014

Hi Kenne

I have no idea of what the finished weight will be ,I still have a few bits to add , it may just start to bend spacetime by the time I am done Big Grin and I reckon it would stay put on the deck of a rolling ship RotflRotfl

Rob

RE: Coke Forge Build - awemawson - 08-17-2014

It would make the rolling ship turn turtle if it was on deck Smiley-dancenana

Afternoon Lads Smile

Dug out an old electric motor to use for the forge blower .

An 8" machinist rule in the foreground just so you can get an idea of the size , its not a large motor , and all I could make out from the label was 240v and fractional .

So out came the test gear just to make sure the motor was safe and to fined out what the RPMs where , turned out to be 1450 rpm .

Wire nuts ,love em,,,,,,,,,, probably the best thing to come out of the USA since Burger King RotflRotflRotfl

There great for quick hook ups . Big Grin , turned out the insulation was sound on the motor , running no load at about 2 amps , start was 9.5 amps .

Suppose I better get the old Etch A Sketch out and draw up a blower Chin

Cheeeeers Rob

RE: Coke Forge Build - awemawson - 08-17-2014

Rob, If you have one on your pile, a TEFC motor (totally enclosed fan cooled) would be a better choice round a forge. There'll be lots of dust and cinders drawn through that vented one Idea

RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 08-17-2014

Hi Andrew ,

I agree , a TEFC motor would be a MUCH better choice ,but I dont have one to hand ,well I do but its 1 1/2 Hp . and being the tight arse that I am I don't want to buy one Big Grin , I will just have to suck it and see , if it claps out I will change it , but for the moment it will do to get the project fired up Big Grin

Cheers Rob

RE: Coke Forge Build - Micktoon - 08-17-2014

Hi Rob, Even if you did buy a motor , you would then get one offered for free within the next couple of days and it would be too much trauma to go through Yikes Normally the free one you have lying on the shelf seems to fit the bill just 'perfect' Big Grin
Like you say it will get you up and running.........I am looking forward to seeing it fired up Drool

Cheers Mick.
