It was a blind restoration, as I could find no manual or any documentation. I had to make a few parts and repair many others. The paint was my own decision as I had no idea of the original color. Here are some before photos Randy RE: Shapers who else has one? - marduk - 08-17-2012 hello this is my other metals shaper, being restored, brand Louvroil production year + / -1900, 400mm stroke soon it will be returned in working order, here's a little video of the winding part, a result very soon, best regards, thierry http://youtu.be/TqrebrxbeYg RE: Shapers who else has one? - EdK - 08-17-2012 Looks like a nice piece of machinery. I couldn't handle the music but the shaper is definitely tolerable. Ed RE: Shapers who else has one? - Mayhem - 08-17-2012 (08-17-2012, 06:19 PM)EdK Wrote: ...I couldn't handle the music... But I noticed other videos with "Louvroil" in their titles and they certainly didn't have shapers in them?? I'm not doubting that the brand of your shaper is "Louvroil" just curious as to why the name appears in other, unrelated? videos. RE: Shapers who else has one? - marduk - 08-19-2012 hello all, the company Louvroil was 1 plant was producing machines or tools in early 1900, then the company went bankrupt, at the present time, it is one big chain which replace storehouse website I can not find any data on this machine it is a shame for the music video sorry you just cut the sound to your ears Savings, cordially thierry RE: Shapers who else has one? - the artfull-codger - 02-24-2013 (03-24-2012, 02:38 PM)aametalmaster Wrote: I am old school and just love shapers. Learned how to run them in the early 70's in metal shop then a year later in Vocational Machine Trades where we had bigger ones. Didn't know at the time they were almost obsolete until i got in a few real shops. So anyway here is my little 7" SBL prob from the early 50's since it isn't the newer oil pump model from the 60's. I paid 300 bucks for it 3 blocks from my house. I looked for years online for one but they were too far away. I made the round corner stand since i wanted the old time look. Enjoy...Bob Shapers, one of those machines that you either love 'em or hate 'em, well I love mine, you could pick a good one up for £50 to £150 when I got mine [about 30 yrs ago] not sure what they bring now but I wouldn't part[pardon the pun] with it!! Ha ha you're right Stevec,I don't know how to put pictures on yet so I'll get my son to show me how,btw don't expect a spotless luxury workshop, it's crammed with stuff I'm a magpie/skiprat & can't bare to waste anything but it's fun making/mending things & of course it's no good having ''all the gear & no idea'',everything gets used, some occasionally others regularly!!.
