Picked up the golden bronze yesterday. Glad the 2 inch shd 160 pipe I used for the housings limited the OD of the bushings. They measured up 30 thou over on the OD and 30 thou under on the ID, perfect for fitting.

Pressed in ready to be bored.

Next step Al, should I cut a grove either side of the hole to spread the grease?

I posted this picture earlier but it seams to have disappeared.
Got the bushings bored and the shafts made up.

Funny you ask that question. I just read something on that subject in one of the Lindsay Books "Tips & Tricks of Old-Time Machinists". Fun read - 5 book set for $24.

I'll look it up and give you the answer soon. The Readers Digest version of it was that the design of the grooves depends on rotation.

Set up a jig to hold the grouser parts when welding. Made a block to go between the angle irons to give the correct spacing for the chain.

Then used the same jig to hold them on the plasma table for profiling.

Have the side rails of the frame welded now and the bearings fitted. As expected had to scrape the bearings after I bolted them up to the welded side rails. Broke the chain into 2 foot sections and joined it back with the grousers.
