RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 01-23-2016 Willie ! Ed RE: Latest Delivery - Dr Stan - 01-23-2016 (01-23-2016, 05:09 PM)EdK Wrote: Willie ! Amen says the choir RE: Latest Delivery - RobWilson - 01-28-2016 I have a project that requires some SMD work , so I bought one of those cheep as chips Hot air rework stations . And some gear to practice with . WTF! how small please ? I can see this going all Pete Tong . Rob RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 01-28-2016 Rob, We have a couple of those hot air rework guns at work and they aren't all that bad for what they cost. That resistor is rather large so should be no problem. We use some at work that are so small we call them fly $hit. Ed RE: Latest Delivery - Roadracer_Al - 01-28-2016 I have a client who builds prototype electronic devices. His workstation has a big lighted magnifier on it. Mandatory equipment from what I can tell. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Brightech-LightView-SuperBright-Magnifier-Adjustable/dp/B00UW2IRJ2/ref=sr_1_23?ie=UTF8&qid=1454012089&sr=8-23&keywords=lighted+magnifier RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 01-28-2016 I took advantage of a recent Enco 20% off promo and bought this Noga NF60103 which arrived today. I plan on using it for indicating on the mill using an Indicol type device to hold it per Mike's video. Very handy when soldering tiny stuff. However beware - years back my son had one on a stand near a window, and sunlight burnt a patch on the wooden window cill - could have been a nasty fire if not found soon enough. Mine has a fold down flap to cover the lens so presumably he wasn't the only one to have had a problem ! RE: Latest Delivery - RobWilson - 01-28-2016 Hi Al I have one of those Andrew is that not why they come with a lens cover ? Anyway I much prefer to use my Olympus stereo microscope to see how badly I am soldering Rob RE: Latest Delivery - awemawson - 01-28-2016 Yes Rob, now they do (or some do), but then they didn't !!!! Tom Lipton did that 2 years ago using a regular Noga mount by simply drilling and tapping one hole in his Indicol clamp. That's another one of those "to do" projects I haven't gotten around to yet. I've have the parts sitting here for months. And I agree with both of those guys. Even though they do work "OK", adjusting the Indicol arms are a pain in the patooty.
