RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 01-01-2013 Sasquatch, sorry can't help you on the company, cast aluminum, would be a lot more manageable than the cast iron Delta RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - TomG - 01-01-2013 (01-01-2013, 10:27 AM)ml_woy Wrote: Hay Tom, that light really illuminates that room. I have one of those old lights in the garage myself, I need to do the mods you did and put it back in service. Those old bulbs sure smoke when a spider or bug gets into them. Yeah, 9000 lumens is about as high as you'd want to go for a single source light. If we didn't have ten foot ceilings I'm sure it would be too bright for the room. They are available in different sizes though so you could either use an array of smaller ones or a single smaller one to get whatever light level you wanted. The smoking bug thing is another reason why I did the LED conversion, nothing smells worse than a cremated bug. Tom RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - DanH - 01-01-2013 This is the upper mount for one of the gas springs supporting the mill head. I started out making a mirror image of the one on the right side but when mocking it up the z-axis motor mount was hitting the spring body. I ended up cutting the mount up and welding it back together so the spring was offset enought to miss the mount. Some machining was un-needed but still a learning experience. The best part was I could use the newly installed DRO to do the hole and countersink layout with accuracy. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - sasquatch - 01-03-2013 What a crazy day!! (Ya know at times things just get crazy!!) Ladies car breaks down yesterday, i find her on the side of the road half frozen, Call tow truck. waiting for truck,, running mine to stay warm, i notice the temp gauge is climbing!! WTF!!?? Truck comes i drive her back home, temp goes down , back to normal. Ok, today have to take her to town to get her car from the garage. HEAVY snowfall!! Decide to do laundry at laundromat while there. Half done , transformer on the pole outside blows up!! Load laundry to bring back home. My Horn quits working. Comming back, wipers quit!! Then come across an SUV upside down, person lying in the snow, others there helping waiting for the ambulance. A mile farther a car spins out goes backwards into the ditch!! Get back home safely, and my horn, AND wipers work again!! See what happens tommorrow!! Lol RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 01-03-2013 Might want to stay home tomorrow, RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 01-03-2013 Here's one I've never seen before, maybe its common, a really neat idea. The serpentine belt pulley on the alternator of a Komatsu dozer. The back of the pulley sits against the shoulder on the shaft then the tapered hub is pulled in with the nut. Secure, no runout, simple. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - sasquatch - 01-03-2013 Dang it!! I cannot open the red X's AGAIN!! Happened once before then started working. (Must be the LAST mess up of my weird day!!) Lol RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - stevec - 01-04-2013 (01-03-2013, 10:38 PM)sasquatch Wrote: Dang it!! I cannot open the red X's AGAIN!!Sasq, I get that too from time to time. Sometimes I've been able to close the site, re-open and there it is! I'd love to hear an explanation but doubt I ever will. P.S. I'm not at all envious of your "crazy day"! RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 01-04-2013 What red x's ? All images just come up when I open an article. |
