I really need to get some gas and a regulator for my welder, that should clean things right up Good excuse as any to buy something for the shop... RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - Shawn - 09-10-2014 I got the lead screw cut this morning. This will allow me to adjust the pedals forward and back. Had a great time cutting this apart and it looks like it's going to work well. It requires steady practice to become and remain good at it. Unfortunately most of us (except for Greg) don't do enough of it to get proficient. I used to gas weld 4130 tube structures for airborne equipment and got pretty good at it, but if I were to pick up a torch and try even a simple weld today, I seriously doubt it would come close to passing inspection. Tom RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - Shawn - 09-10-2014 Thanks Tom, I actually bought an oxy/acetlyne torch so I could learn to weld with it, the final goal being able to weld 4130 tube. I'll keep practicing, I just bought a 230V stick welder and when I get time to install another 220v outlet in the garage I'll have a go with that as well. Shawn RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - Shawn - 09-10-2014 Got the rest of the parts together for the pedal adjustment contraption. It might not be the best homebuilt flight simulator but I would be willing to bet it will be the heaviest ? RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - TomG - 09-11-2014 Good thing it's a simulator and doesn't actually have to get off the ground. RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - Shawn - 09-12-2014 Got a couple more pieces hacked out today. RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - Mayhem - 09-13-2014 I've seen hacked Shawn - and that looks a damn sight better than hacked. You've obviously never flown with Aeroflot (although I think Plummet brought them out). If I ever make it to Kamloops - I want to have a go... RE: Dual flight controls for simulator - TomG - 09-13-2014 "Plummet" is actually the name of an airline? |
