RE: Let's See Your Mill - Sunset Machine - 06-23-2012

It's been dated at 1865, a New Haven planer. It's just a bit of busy work for me, the hobby. I should be out in the shop dabbling with some parts I'm making for it, and here it is, 1:00 PM already...

Welcome aboard,
The problem with, Umm, No longer being welcome in certain places is that one tends to lose track of people and their big black planers, I really wanted to see it running, and for a little while I thought that I wasn't going to see that happen.
Thanks for letting me know.

Rick

Here are some pictures of my mill when it was delivered in June 2010. And others two years later.

Welrod,
Nice mill and a nice job on the cage roller you made to move it on. Smiley-signs107

RE: Let's See Your Mill - Rickabilly - 06-24-2012

Hello All,
I can vouch for these old TOS Mills, I used one as an Apprentice, and it was every bit as good as anything "Western" if not quite as fancy as a Cinncinati, They are a good solid machine that gets the job done.
Hello Welrod,
Does the vertical head have the 2:1 stepup? If I remember correctly there were two vertical head ratios on the one I used, might have been 2:1 and 4:1 or 1:1 and 2:1.

Well done, going for a proper old school Mill, it's not the easy choice for a hobbyist.
Best Regards
Rick

Hello All,
Thank you for your comments.
Hello Rick,
For my part the two heads that I have run with a ratio of 1/1.

Best Regards
Michel
