(12-18-2012, 11:20 AM)ml_woy Wrote: I built those cabinets last winter, decided I need some more drawer space and went shopping for metal cabinets, found that they all had a mix of drawer heights which did not meet my needs and they were shallow. So I fired up the CAD program designed two floor boxes and two boxes to set on the work bench. All are 30" deep giving me abut 33% more storage then the store bought boxes and the good thing was the price was a lot cheaper then the ones I could buy. The most expensive part was the drawer slides, I found a good deal out of a place on the net in Georgia, and the casters. All the drawers have dividers in them which can be reconfigured as my tool mix change.

I am planning another box for February which will house all of my milling and drill bits and milling accessories. Going to use a pedistal I have which used to support a grinder as its' base.

Are those drawers made from metal or wood? Very nice by the way.

Ed

The cabinets look GREAT! my compliments. Thumbsup
But, I'd like an explanation of the use of "then" in the place of than. It seems to be a common usage in the U.S. but I have seen it used by at least one Canadian.
I find it confusing, for example..."I'd rather build this, then that." and "I'd rather build this, than that" the 2 statements are very different one describing the order in which they're done and the other describing preference to one over the other.
In U.S. speech is "then" pronounced "than"? If so, how is "than" pronounced?

Yeah GREAT cabinets!!
I too wondered if they are wood or metal?

Steve: Possibly is similar to "Thing and Thang" ?? Lol

Well to answer the two pressing questions, first the use of "then and than", being a college graduate who flunked freshman English for the misuse of "then and than", I never seem to get those things straight and now being 67 years old, I probably will never accomplish that feat. So thanks for help in trying to straighten me out. As for the drawers in the cabinets they are all made of wood. Actually in the picture there are two roll-a-ways which are purchased from Grangers about thirty years ago and they are metal.

And thanks for the compliments on the cabinets, it surely is appreciated.

Well here guys are some more pictures of my cabinets, I have been trying to post them in a certain order with descriptions next to the picture but the forum is not cooperating. So here is the narrative and the pictures as attachments. The one on the floor is my roll away model, which I keep screw drivers, sockets, hammers in mostly. I made it so it would fit under the work bench and could be removed for cleaning or taken outside to work on equipment.[attachment=4062][attachment=4063]

The next one, setting on top of the lathe table is my storage for drills, files, arbors, and wrenches.

Third is a small under counter model holding nuts and bolts, pencils and pliers and documentation on my equipment.[attachment=4059][attachment=4056][attachment=4060][attachment=4062]

Sorry for the order of the pictures, I need some help on posting!!
