I have had a little trouble with chatter too but also success so my story is the same as yours.

The last time I used mine I was getting some chatter and it wasn't cutting well. (Parting/grooving blade.) I'd never had that problem before. 17428  17428

I backed the tool out of the cut and noticed that the blade wasn't sitting in line with the holder as well, so I removed the blade and cleaned everything up with some brake cleaner and a shot of compressed air. Put the blade back on and tightened down the holding screw. It was then straight and parallel with the tool holder, and cut perfectly like it used to.

The only thing I can think of, is that vibration from the machine had loosened the holding screw since all my lathe tool holders have always sat on top of the head stock of the lathe. Chin That will be changing soon though.

Let me know if you ever encounter a Bromson No 7 mill in one of those books. I have one and have never seen any info on it.

Nice books Rob. I should start acquiring some old books like that so when I get too old and feeble to run my machines, I have some tool porn to peruse. Chin

I didn't know Pratt & Whitney was also in Chicago.

I've bought several items from old P&W employees. My wife said she would be happier if I stayed out of Connecticut.

i dont seem to get much fun stuff in the mail nower days . just got 20kg of green coffee beans yesterday but that is just the norm i get that about every 4 or 5 weeks ,so very mundane here for me , maybe i need to spend more time on ebay . i am going to ring cast metal services this morning and get a price on petrobond cos i have already had enough of trying to get this green sand to be any good . had 3 tries at casting my flyweehl and not had a result i like yet .

RE: Latest UPS Delivery - Roadracer_Al - 10-02-2015

I got a big pile of car suspension parts in the post. I had been itching for a new-to-me car, but decided to bite the bullet and do all the deferred maintenance and upkeep on my '02 Camaro Z28 6-speed convertible.... in red. It's a real "Mid-Life-Crisis-Mobile". Funny thing about looking at cars - I don't fancy anything I can afford any better than the car I have. The stuff I *really* like would not fit comfortably into our domestic budget.

My wife might get upset, but I think I might snoop around on the 'net and look at what it would take to install a supercharger or turbo, more to the point, if it's even legally possible in California. Because 325hp just isn't enough.
