So i presume it comes from Mansfield John RE: Steam Engine Base Pattern - Rickabilly - 08-06-2012 Thanks John, The stuff I used to get from my local foundry (which is not at all local now, Australia) was always very black, hence the question, they used to let me use it and then bring it back and run it through the mill for reuse.
