I ran across someone else in a comment section yesterday when the name McMaster-Carr popped up. I mentioned the drill chuck arbor incident we went through recently and this was his reply:

This time it arrived unbranded, had a grinding hollow on the side of the shank large enough to make it unusable. I wonder if that's where they removed the embarrassing source name. They offered to replace it. It told them no thanks and took a refund. Found a NOS Jacobs on eBay.
