bout all I can say is that its some type of filler that was used to smooth it out for painting.

RE: Peerless Shaper - Roadracer_Al - 10-05-2015

At least it's hard. On my Cincinnati TrayTop, the filler they used was a sticky asphalt-like goo that never *quite* hardened, and was a complete drag to remove for paint.

Al, maybe they thought it would stay soft and cushion the tools you set up there.
This stuff comes off with a wire wheel in great clouds of black dust.

Spent two days removing that granite material. Was going to leave it but in places it was badly chipped, so off it came. A 24 grit disk on the 7 inch sander took care of it but now everything you touch in the shop is black, Ed would be having fits.
Washed the parts down today and just finished spraying them.
The same urethane automotive paint I used on the lathe.

Looking good Greg. You need me to come over and give your shop a good cleaning? It looks like you could use some photography lessons also.  5176
In return, I could use some painting lessons.

Anytime Ed. May try the leaf blower, see if it will lift the layer of granite.
The iPhone is hit and miss for clarity, it seems to need lots of light.
Sprayed this with a HVLP Divilibus gun, its a joy to use, set the pattern width and it lays it on with almost sharp edges like you were using a brush.

Interesting color choice. Gray and Lime Green. :)

If it's actually an iPhone (although I believe Android phones do this as well), just tap the screen on the part of the picture which you want to be in focus, then tap the shutter.

RE: Peerless Shaper - f350ca - 10-09-2015

Is that the focus region? I thought that was where it set the exposure. I'll give it a try. assembly has begun.
