RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - f350ca - 04-12-2014 Very Cool. You'll be making chips in no time. RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - Mayhem - 04-12-2014 Nice work Shawn! RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - PixMan - 04-15-2014 Darren, While you have your Kondia apart is there any chance you could afford to put ball screws in it's X and Y axis? It would then be easy to put servos on it when the time is right. RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - Shawn - 04-15-2014 Took a bit to figure out the soft limits but I finally got those working and managed to cut a test part I put together with Dolphin cad/cam. I wasn't able to get the peck drilling sequence to work but I'm sure that will be a simple fix, I'm guessing I don't have the latest post processor? Shawn RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - dallen - 04-15-2014 what software are you using to drive the mill with. DA RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - Shawn - 04-15-2014 I'm using Mach3 to drive the mill and Dolphin CAD/CAM to design and convert to gcode. Others seem to have issue with peck drilling sequences from Dolphin. If I run the drilling wizard in mach3 peck drilling works great. From memory, the price was fairly steep and there are other things I need to purchase first (like the 6" Vertex vise I just picked up on special for $266). I also really want to learn how to mill manually before even contemplating CNC. Why should I let a computer crash my machine when I am capable of doing that myself! If I do decide to go that path later on, it really isn't much work to remove the table. RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - Shawn - 04-17-2014 My first parts for my flight simulator cut on my cnc mill. Still lots to figure/sort out but I am hooked. Took less than 2 hours to design and cut both levers, I never could have done it that quickly manually. Certainly not as much fun as running a machine by hand but it has some cool potential for my simulator. Shawn RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - dallen - 04-17-2014 nice looking parts, I'm still trying to kick all the bugs out of my router, RE: Converting a X2 clone to CNC - Shawn - 04-17-2014 Are you still fighting with electrical issues Dallen? I'd be interested in seeing photos of your router table. I will build one someday ands I'm always interested in hearing/seeing what others have done. Shawn |
