BTW, that sure looks like a Rockwell/Delta 14" vertical bandsaw in the background.  Does it have the high/low gear box for metal & wood working like mine?

Stan

I have one of those as well Stan. It's a nice little saw, but unfortunately mine is missing the original pulleys, so the gearbox only works in low range. One of these days...

Tom,

When you get aroundtoit you know who to contact for any measurements you need.

A Round TUIT... I think I may have a couple still in the truck. Want me to send you one Tom? :)

I've never seen one complete, so I don't really know what is missing. The pulley on the gearbox is missing, but I believe it's a rather large one. That in turn goes to a couple of step pulleys to vary the speeds in the high and low range. Vinny, if you have one that you are willing to part with, I would be glad to pick it up and buy you a couple beers.

I was referring to "A Round TUIT" not a pulley!

Here's a link to a Delta/Rockwell metal/wood 14" bandsaw.  Not exactly like mine, but very close.

That manual is for a newer version than mine. Have a copy somewhere dated 1936 I believe. The one I have has a lever to shift the gear box in.

Thanks Stan, that's pretty much what I suspected it would look like. I'll have to run the numbers and see what size the pulleys need to be.

I should have said mechanically close as I do not have the base cabinet, but four legs and a shelf.

I mounted mine on a 7/16 thick piece of OSB with casters and replaced the blade guides with ones like the set available from Rockler.

long way round this , i want to have a crack at making some bronze in my furnace , to do that i needed a better crucible so i bought an A10 clay graphite one now to use it i need some lifting tongs and a pouring shank which i dont have so i will make some , but to make them i need a ring roller so i will need to make one . so i have the rough design in my head and it requires some gears so i am making those i did not want to by involute cutters so i ground a hss profile cutter and have been making the gears with the help of little douglas my shaper . and i am enjoying myself and thats all that counts few pics of some gear cutting in the shaper .
oh yeah should mention i used one of the change gears off my lathe which is module 1.5 to test fit the grind on my profile cutter. so my home made gears should be real close to m1.5 , i am making 2 40 tooth and 1 30 tooth gears . still have to make my mind up either grub screws or keyways yet , i suppose keyways would be the right way to do it .
