Are there no access doors/panels? If so, you may be able to get a sling through. Also, I'd remove them to cut down on the weight. Otherwise, I'd use the spider or bolt some chain ot the holes.

Yes, two access panels. One is way down low so it wouldn't work for lifting. The other one is on the side higher up that I had considered trying to lift from. I might give it a try tomorrow.
The access panels are thin sheet metal so removing them is not going to reduce the weight by an appreciable amount.

I have an idea that will solve all your equipment moves forever. I lifted my mill using just the axel strap, if you grab a set you are good for long time, these are sold as a pair, go halves with someone on the forum.

Lifting equipment is not the problem. It's the item being lifted. Very few options for grab points.

If you have two long slings you could go down through the column and up the outside, on both sides. Your effectively lifting from the top then. It may lean to the front but can't go anywhere. Chains would work equally well, just wrap them with rags where they contact the painted surfaces.

Ed - you have four bolt holes at the top of the casting that will give you a good, balanced point.

I wish! That would make it easy but no bolt holes anywhere except the four base mounting holes. That's why I was considering using the turret spider and some bar stock. That would put the lifting point at the very top.

The bottom is enclosed for coolant so no way to wrap slings down through the column and up the outside.

Lifting using the access panel would cause this sort of tilt which makes me a bit uncomfortable. I think I'll go with the turret spider and bar stock method.
