Yeah....OK. So the thread veered off a bit after the initial replies. But I didn't see anyone specifically claim that some of the more elaborate items were essential. Nothing unusual and I don't think anyone was seriously injured. Cool

I still stand by my belief that ANY tool is better than NO tool. Smile

Tools are a social creature if left by them self they become depressed. Tools are much happier in LARGE crowds, so for the health of your tools you must be sure to provide them with a LARGE social net work. 6799
Preferably to the point of over crowding, that will insure your tools years of happiness! Rotfl

Spring calipers, verniers, surface gauges anyone? Although I was a bit surprised at the price of a surface gauge these days: fat part of $200 for a Starret. Ouch.

I am a tool-o-holic definitely, if I like it I buy, many times I never use it but if needed I have it. I have also made or modified and many times improved an available tool and many times improvised especially when it comes to overpriced transmission tools. I am getting too old, I even have tools I can't remember whqt thewy are for. Oh well we had garage sale a few weeks ago and everyone wanted to get access to the tools in my shop ànd I told them my wife would have one hell of a sale once I kicked the bucket. If only I could get mahems program to work so she w2ould have a record as I would hate to see her let things go too cheap. tom

Tom, I'm wondering if you really meant "too" old, or is it just another example of your trademark typing.Rotfl
"Too old" is when you stop buying new tools..even if , long ago, you stopped using them. Thumbsup
I'm begining to think I'm not the only one with a very "understanding" wife. Smiley-eatdrink004

Tool-o-holic, who me, NO. I had an understanding wife, things were bad then, after she passed away all heck broke loose. Now the shop is considerably bigger than the house and fairly full.
