you were saying about "digital cliper reading and prescision" work. and I meant to say; I stop turning, to check it with the cliper reading, how much I went and start turning again with short intruptions to achieve the prescision, even though I feed with dial readings on the machine.

Oh, now I think I understand. I've found that a digital caliper, even a Mitutoyo, can't give me the accuracy that a micrometer can.
I don't think it's only my inability to use the caliper, others (on other forums) agree.
Good job, glad you were able to reach your goal regardless of my skepticism.

I have to agree with you on the calipers. They're considered rough measuring tools by people more knowledgeable than me. I can never get a very accurate measurement with calipers measuring holes, especially small holes.

Oh! I see now the point you are making
Well, I am not in disagreement about the reliability or the accuracy of digital calipers, I only use them when I need to (roughly) know how much under or over the dot after the zero. Other vice, I use non digital calipers, easier and faster, till I get any better to use micrometer. What I am building, by adding means of my capability and my machines are not so up to your level of scale to requires the precision you mean.
I dont have micrometer yet and I am not good enough to use for thousands anyhow. So, I am lucky if I get close 0.04 to 0.20s. I only hope to get there, someday.

What makes it thrilling? You think you are on your own, 
but it is not so.., there are some rules that cant be ignored to live with. Just like a family. Each machine or each cutter has his own personality, life to live, demanding good treatment etc. when you do things right, we are all happy family, when you something wrong, well, they sure let you know

Thanks Steve. I've been at this hobby for some time now but still have a whole lot to learn. I usually enjoy the process more than the end result but still strive to improve.
