RE: --- Surface Grinder - Bill Gruby - 02-05-2017

Got the heads up on the steel yesterday. Should be here Thursday. I will get it to the "Water Jet" people on Friday. Two sets of parts will be cuy .040 over to allow for machining square and machining the ways flat once installed.

Does anyone know if anything ever came of this? I was searching for DIY surface grinder plans, and this popped up.

I wouldn't hold much hope for that. It's been seven years.
What size surface grinder are you looking to create?

Mount a cup grinding wheel on an arbor on your mill. That's what Joe Pie does. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yu02RLpq_K0

Highpower, because you posted that video, I watched it and ended up buying a cup wheel.

Yeah he got me too, back when he originally posted that video.

Even a DIY surface grinder is out of reach for most people if you plan on doing it right. The cost of (proper) spindle bearings alone for a surface grinder will stop them dead in their tracks. Yikes
