RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - stevec - 06-18-2014 Darren, I am against reposting (quoting) pics from the immediately preceding post. RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - Wongster - 06-18-2014 Oh... you mean the bearings in the live centre. I wasn't hammering on that; only the wedges which are between the joint. Would that have impact on the bearings in the live centre? RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - stevec - 06-18-2014 My point exactly, Wong. RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - Hopefuldave - 06-18-2014 My point too, the wedges don't put a load on the.bearings when the taper's stuck in a mill spindle or similar (drill quill? Lathe spindle?), which is why I made 'em - and they're usually more.effective than a hammer and a drift too :-) RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - donny meads - 06-19-2014 had the same type of problem and solved it by using a u bolt and a hammer tighten the u bolt over the gap until it wont move then bash hard on the bent part of the u bolt out she pops RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - bigman1 - 07-01-2014 Hi Wongster, I get the same sticking trouble with the MT taper on my mill all the hammering won't shift the tool,i use a good dose of pipe freeze spray allways works, why not try it. Cheers. Ronnie. |
