RE: Coke Forge Build - Micktoon - 11-15-2015 Looking canny Rob , you will be getting used to the new welding gear doing this project Cheers Mick RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 11-16-2015 Cheers Lads , its good to see there is some interest in my messing about Well I made some progress with the ash dump flap today . I reused the material from the not so good flap , yes I could just cut a new bit but why waste materials . Just need to stick a handle /lever on it , now its pie and chips time ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or may be toad in the hole . Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 11-16-2015 I decided to have toad in the hole for tea Bent up a handle from 20mm bar ,two actually did not like the first design . Bobs bending pins (made about 20 years ago ) First handle ,the one I did not like the look of for this job . so I bent up another on other end of the bar . and welded to flap . A bit clean up here and there and thats that for the bottom part , hood tomorrow Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - EdK - 11-16-2015 Rob, Nice welds. What type of welder did you use on the ash flap pieces? Ed RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 11-17-2015 (11-16-2015, 06:07 PM)EdK Wrote: Rob, Hi Ed I used my old MIG with 0.6mm mild steel wire ,I nearly swapped the real for SS but decided it was not worth it for a few welds and its just forge at the end of the day . Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 11-17-2015 Well today did not go to plan , I was planning on doing the hood today but it has rained hard all day , I have to cut the 8x4 sheet up outside . So I stripped the forge and cleaned up the stand ,finished the welding and removed the weld splatter . And a group shot of parts made so far Hopefully the weather at the weekend will be better . Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - krv3000 - 11-17-2015 brill as per rob but I think we is getting bad weather at the weekend RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 11-22-2015 Evening Lads Well I managed to get a wee bit of work done on the forge hood , I am using 1mm galvanized sheet steel to make the hood . My state of the art sheet metal folder , A length of 50x50 and 60x25 flat bar LOL , does the job one day I may make something better . And thats as far as I got this afternoon , just tack welded with the old MIG for now , I will seam welded it when I get the last section in . Cheers Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - krv3000 - 11-22-2015 just brill rob RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 11-24-2015 A wee update , tonight I made the hood corner panel . Slowly getting there Rob |
