RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - dallen - 08-05-2015 thanks Dave, I'm wishing I had of made it longer now, but then wanting a longer one gives me reason to do it again. took some video but need to do some hack and chop on it before posting. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - oldgoaly - 08-05-2015 so been experimenting, the started to get a rhythm, spun 5 of them in the time it took me to do the 1st one. The deal on the face of the hubcap will need to be pressed, a 6061 for the die should work. [attachment=11541] This is one of those things that looks real easy in videos, then you find out it isn't. then you find the sweet spot and it is easy. Looking to upgrade the cutoff tool, the Driver brand one I have is nice for truing up the edge, but sucks cutting off excess. makes a good mark, trim with the wiss snips! RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - Pete O - 08-05-2015 Metal spinning is somewhere on my list of 'one day' things. I was watching a guy making light fitting components on a purpose-built metal spinning lathe about 20 years ago, he made it look like there was nothing to it. Offered me a go, and I split one of his blanks in two straight away. I think it would be one of those things where once you have the knack it would be easy enough, but might take a while to get the feel. You seem to have got the hang of it pretty quickly. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 08-05-2015 Got the racks and bits and pieces sanded out and sprayed. The bike cleaned up so I quickly sprayed some touch up with a rattle can to seal up the leaks. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 08-06-2015 Finished, ready for a run tomorrow. New tires, valves and clutch adjusted. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - EdK - 08-06-2015 Got the two MachTach tachometers up and running. No magic smoke escaped. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - DaveH - 08-07-2015 Greg, that does look good, great job DaveH RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - DaveH - 08-07-2015 Ed, Two! looks like the same one to me DaveH RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - EdK - 08-07-2015 (08-07-2015, 06:50 AM)DaveH Wrote: Ed, Trick photography does wonders Dave.
