RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - DaveH - 05-31-2015 Very smart DaveH RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - Roadracer_Al - 05-31-2015 Dang it, Rob, you're making me feel like a slacker again. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - EdK - 05-31-2015 I hung a couple of florescent light fixtures in the garage so I can see better when I weld. Unfortunately I only had enough bulbs to populate one fixture. I thought I had enough but was wrong, again. Ed RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - krv3000 - 05-31-2015 a job well dun rob RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - Vinny - 05-31-2015 Ed, I put in ONE of those cf twisty bulbs in my shop. It draws about the same as a standard 2 bulb florescent but delivers more than 4 times the light. When that thing's on it's daytime in here. My neighbor has two of the same ones in his shop (wood shop) and when he has both on, from outside it looks like a nuclear event just took place in there. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - TomG - 05-31-2015 I finally got around to doing a bit of machining on the AR15 forgings I had acquired. Got the outside contour milled and the numerous holes and slots cut for the safety, mag release and hammer pivot, etc. It's been a while since I've machined any 7075 and I must admit, the stuff is pretty impressive. Nice sharp end mills are a must. Tom RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - PixMan - 05-31-2015 (05-31-2015, 11:24 AM)RobWilson. Wrote: Hi Lads Rob, Those are seriously nice ramps! How much do they weigh? Will they be in a rather permanent location? If not, would they need handles or slots to aid in having a lift point? RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - dallen - 05-31-2015 what size did you end up with for the selector? Nice sharp end mills are a must. I love 7075. It's incredibly strong for aluminum, machines a little tougher than 6061-T651 but the tensile strength and dimensional stability is superior. A place not far from me that specializes in AR15 type guns and accessories uses that 7075 for anything where steel isn't absolutely required. And they make top-notch stuff. http://yhm.net/ RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - TomG - 05-31-2015 I used a .376 reamer David. Don't know exactly what the fit is, but it feels pretty good. Ken, It's surprising how much effort it takes to push a drill through the stuff, but it sure leaves a nice finish. Tom |
