RE: Gib locking & DRO - Mayhem - 11-01-2012

Here is a picture of the 2 different locks on the knee of my Kondia mill (I dismantled it last night). It highlights two methods of locking the knee.

On the left is one of the 2 locks that sit perpendicular to the gib and the screw presses a brass angled pad against the gib. This is the style discussed above.

The one on the right extends to the front of the knee, where a lever rotates the rod which has an eccentric lobe. The lobe sits in wedge, which then also presses against the gib. The wedge sits in the large hole in the bottom centre of the picture and the setscrew retains the rod.
