RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - krv3000 - 10-01-2012 is it dun yet RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - doubleboost - 10-01-2012 Hi Bob In a word "no". The thread looked good but it is not spot on I learned a lot and i am going to re do it. John RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - stevec - 10-02-2012 John, I'd be curious to know, what's not "spot on" about it? RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - Arbalest - 10-02-2012 Not wishing to hijack your thread John, but did you ever post a thread about the Riser for the column? I have a Warco variant that I'd be keen to raise maybe 75 - 100mm. I have some pictures of the riser i will dig them out John RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - doubleboost - 10-03-2012 (10-02-2012, 07:22 AM)stevec Wrote: John, I'd be curious to know, what's not "spot on" about it? The depth of thread should be half the pitch plus 10 thou 125 / 2 +10 This gives 72.5 thou I machined the core register 75 thou smaller than the thread od Instead of 75 per side (the thread is only half depth) John RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - stevec - 10-03-2012 Thanks John. does that mean the root (bottom) of the thread is way narrower than the crest (top)? The thread is not deep enough so the top will be to narrow in the groove The root will be the width of the tool tip I am going to do it again (i will try and do a bit of video) John RE: 626 Mill Z Axis Feed Nut - stevec - 10-03-2012 Are the root and the crest not supposed to be the same minus the required clearances? |
