Yes, John, we keep keeping the old stuff, thinking that someday might come of need,.. all end up with boxes of things, piling on us, shop looks like a junk yard. tried many attempts to clean out, but end up sorting the stuff, never beared to throw away. Now, I have to fix close fitting Crank disk pins. they are little too lose to my like(ing). both hole and the pins are exact 3mm dia. but they are just lose... when the rots connected, it will not stay on for long. unal RE: What should be the allowance for press fitting? - ScrapMetal - 05-30-2012 (05-30-2012, 04:50 PM)ukazak Wrote: Thanks Dave, John, Your crank project is looking very nice and job well done on the re-purposed drill bit. I'll remember that one. You just described my shop, basement, and garage to a "T". About every few months (year or two, who keeps track?) I resort to going through my "pile" looking for something that I can use in my son's science project or to fix something around the house. Without fail, once I've found such a piece I give a triumphant cry to my wife, "See! This is why I never throw anything out!" Also, without fail, she gives me that "look" and rolls her eyes. -Ron RE: What should be the allowance for press fitting? - stevec - 05-31-2012 Good job Unal, I'm really amazed you can work to that level of precision with a digital caliper, I NEVER get the same readings with mine as I do with a micrometer. Ron, "Without fail, once I've found such a piece I give a triumphant cry to my wife, "See! This is why I never throw anything out!" Also, without fail, she gives me that "look" and rolls her eyes." I'm sure I have said those very same words with the identical response. It is amezing I use the dials on the machine and it works.. but check it again anyways, when I start trusting thye dials, than will be real fun. you are luck all you get is "look"... sometimes, I see mine coming out of the shop with a largest hammer in one hand, and smalest screwdriver on the other, she sys she will fix that washing machines stucked lid, and than I get that "look" you talk about. unal RE: What should be the allowance for press fitting? - ukazak - 05-31-2012 (05-30-2012, 01:53 PM)DaveH Wrote: Unal, Yea! you sat that, but we gets no banana..!
