RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - DaveH - 06-14-2014 Well done Wong Keep the aluminium wedge - you never know when you may need it again. DaveH RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - stevec - 06-15-2014 Good job Wong! What an odyssey! DaveH RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - Wongster - 06-16-2014 The effort required with the wedge was so much lesser. Lol. I went with the hammer because I don't have big bolt and nuts. While hammering the wedge, with the other side against the floor, I thought for a moment that I've made the situation worst with the wedge stuck. A little more tapping broke the dead grasp and boy, I was jumping with joy after. Really thank you folks for chimming in to help. Add a link to the original thread though, for attribution ;-) RE: Stuck Revolving Centre in Tailstock Spindle - Wongster - 06-18-2014 Thanks Dave! Thank God there is no bearings on this. May have damaged it with the hammering. I posted the link to the madmodder page where you posted the pics instead. The same page has the pics of the part made. But, Dave H, I don't see where Wong did any "hammering on bearings", the opposing wedges were acting against the rear of the bearing enclosure of the rotating centre and the front face of the tailstock ram. Unless of course I've missed something, which is entirely possible. However, I cannot for the life of me recall who that is |
