Well done Wong Thumbsup
Keep the aluminium wedge - you never know when you may need it again.

Not really no, I'm still trying to figure out protons and electrons. 17428

The effort required with the wedge was so much lesser. Lol. I went with the hammer because I don't have big bolt and nuts. While hammering the wedge, with the other side against the floor, I thought for a moment that I've made the situation worst with the wedge stuck. A little more tapping broke the dead grasp and boy, I was jumping with joy after.

Really thank you folks for chimming in to help.

Wong

Good news for me! The aluminium wedge works!!!

HopefulDave, can i have your permission to post your drawings on my blog? Though my "tool" is just part of what you drawn out, I want to document the wedge. Please....

Thank you all you guys!!!

Wong

Pleased to hear it worked, even without the bolts - I have Qualms about hammering on bearings, and applying a bit of thought works better than brute force most of the time -:)

Feel free to post the drawings, that's why I posted them, to help people!
Add a link to the original thread though, for attribution ;-)

Thanks Dave!

Thank God there is no bearings on this. May have damaged it with the hammering.

I posted the link to the madmodder page where you posted the pics instead. The same page has the pics of the part made.

Wong

Wong, I'm pretty sure the revolving centre involves bearings.
But,
Dave H, I don't see where Wong did any "hammering on bearings",
the opposing wedges were acting against the rear of the bearing enclosure of the rotating centre and the front face of the tailstock ram.

Unless of course I've missed something, which is entirely possible.

Now there is a member here who often gets irate when someone quotes a post and includes all the pictures in the quote. However, I cannot for the life of me recall who that is Big Grin
