RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Bill Gruby - 07-11-2013 ??????????????????? Thought the title was right. Did I leave something out. The Asian 9X20 lathes only have a manual feed cross slide. "Billy G" RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Bill Gruby - 07-13-2013 Plate #1 done. It took some trial and error to get the .750 movement I wanted for belt tensioning. "Billy G" RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Bill Gruby - 07-14-2013 For those still watching we are here. The mount is almost finished. It needs the holes to hold it to the apron yet. Two holes 1/4-20. I did not give dimensions for the bracket because it depends on motor choice. If someone wishes to have them I will post them as prints. "Billy G" RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Bill Gruby - 07-14-2013 The control box mounted atop the headstock. "Billy G" RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Bill Gruby - 07-15-2013 The 24 volt DC line has to be guarded from swarf as much as possible. "Billy G" RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - TomG - 07-15-2013 Looking good Bill. That is a nice little geared head motor. With the PWM supply, it will have more than enough torque for what you are doing. In fact, you may want to build some slip into the drive or limit the power just in case something bottoms out. Tom RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Bill Gruby - 07-15-2013 I haven't started the Dog Clutch yet Tom. I will work something out there. I hadn't given that problem a thought. Thanks for the hears up. "Billy G" RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - DaveH - 07-20-2013 Coming on very nicely Billy DaveH RE: Power Crossfeed for Asian 9X20s - Mayhem - 07-20-2013 Looking good Bill. A couple of questions if I may: 1. Most of these I have seen done elsewhere (and how I plan to do my friend's lathe) attach the motor drive to the end of the leadscrew at the tailstock end. Given that you are mounting to the apron, are going to be driving off of the rack? If so, is there any advantage to this other than reducing leadscrew/half nut wear? 2. Would the conduit be better routed behind the headstock and then under the bed casting?
