RE: A student project - stevec - 07-07-2013 Awesome Brian, some lucky kids there, under your tutelage. RE: A student project - Brian - 07-14-2013 The wheels posed a bit of a problem, so we used moped rims made our own hubs and re'spoked them, an interesting exercise for a modern lad. RE: A student project - Brian - 07-31-2013 Thanks Steve. I will try again. the book of the clock is taking most of my time lately, some 9358 words 171 photos 27 drawings so far. On with the work. we built a "A" frame chassis and installed the engine. [attachment=5816] [attachment=5817] And made a external contracting brake. [attachment=5818] [attachment=5819] Simple but effective. Brian RE: A student project - Bill Gruby - 08-01-2013 Brian, awesome work those kids are doing. They really are lucky to have you for guidance. "Billy G" RE: A student project - Brian - 03-14-2014 I think its time I finished this thread,The clock and poor health have taken all of my time but things are now on the up so I will continue. Having made the wheels we then could calculate the angles required for the steering and the axle was made. [attachment=7898] [attachment=7900] Next came the steering box a simple chain and sprocket adapted to make a rack and pinion. [attachment=7901] [attachment=7902] More to follow brian. RE: A student project - Brian - 03-16-2014 We now had a mobile chassis that we could move. so it was transferred from the machine shop to the automotive dept. [attachment=7921] a radiator was made from copper tube an installed along side the engine. [attachment=7922] Body work and seating was added. [attachment=7923] Ready for a test run. [attachment=7924] The lighting was made. [attachment=7925] And the car given a coat of paint. [attachment=7926] RE: A student project - TomG - 03-16-2014 Hey Brian, it's good to have you back! I had forgotten about this project and was surprised to see it re-surface. It's great to see such a complicated finished and working to plan. It must have been quite a task to keep all of that young energy focused and moving in the right direction. Thanks for sharing it. Tom |
