RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - dallen - 03-08-2015 I want to thank everyone for the compliments on the rifle and especially want to thank the people that have helped me with building this rifle, not only here but on other forums as well. THANK YOU. Now to get my butt back in gear and see if I can learn to checker good enough that I would do my own rifle. DA RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - TomG - 03-08-2015 Nice work David! The color case hardening pattern is amazing. Any chance of sharing your technique with us? Tom RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - PixMan - 03-08-2015 I wasn't planning on going to the shop today but got a text from Neil last night about wanting to rough out some of his parts. I got there at 11:00AM and let him have at it with the lathe. My wife gave me a little project, though indirectly. Because we have cats she bought a Bissell "Little Green Machine" for spot cleaning carpets. It broke apart. She told me a new one would cost "about $40", so I told her that I didn't spend tens of thousands of dollars on machinery and tooling just to toss $40 away on something I could fix. About and hour & half later, all fixed. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - stevec - 03-08-2015 Excellent work Ken, but will the better halfs ever really understand the economics? Steve RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - Mayhem - 03-08-2015 Ken, does the cat go into the box to stop it making spots on the carpet? Either way a nice fix. Cat? No. You mean cats, all three of them. They have no problem using the litter box for daily duties. It's the occasional hacking up a hairball which creates the need to have cleanup equipment at the ready. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - stevec - 03-08-2015 I know exactly what you mean Ken, I can't wait for spring so he can "all night" outside and barf there! I doubt it. Then again, she expects me to understand the thinking when she calls ahead to have my son come down to her car in the driveway and help bring up the tons of shopping bags, exclaiming "but look how much I saved buying all this!" We've even. And I guess that's why it's been working for 34+ years...and we're both broke. BTW, have I mentioned how much use I've been getting out of that set of very fine Alford-Polk metric counterbores that I picked up off of the local Craigslist with the Walter dividing head. Worked great on those little aluminum pieces, and many others. I don't know how I got along without them! RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - f350ca - 03-14-2015 A buddy couldn't find wheel for his garden tractor, so we cut the enters out of a pair of atv wheels, then cut the appropriate centres on the plasma table. Decided to clean up the centre hole on the mill. A shaky setup but it worked. New centre sections welded in. RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - RobWilson - 03-15-2015 Greg . Rob |
