RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 05-16-2015 Nothing Darren lol , I just need to weld some feet on, finish the air control valve and give it a good wire brush and dettol so I can chuck a bit paint at it Then I need to make a start on the hood/extractor doodad . Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - f350ca - 05-16-2015 What are you thinking of for a hood? I need to get one built, from what I read the side draft ones seam to work better than a full over hood. RE: Coke Forge Build - f350ca - 05-16-2015 Missed the post with the fire. Congratulations. Have heard of coating the bottom of the forge with clay to protect the metal, just potters clay from what I gathered. May try it on my cast iron one. RE: Coke Forge Build - DaveH - 05-16-2015 That looks good Rob, ................ there's nothing like a good fire DaveH RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 05-17-2015 (05-16-2015, 12:18 PM)f350ca Wrote: What are you thinking of for a hood? Hi Greg , Side drafts are the way to go ,BUT I dont have the hight to get a good draught going , well I don't want 8 foot + of stack sticking out of my workshop roof . So I will be going for and over hood with and extractor fan sucking the fumes out (using smokeless fuel) and venting sideways into the garden . I was thinking about lining the forge ,but being all steel and free to float I could see it just cracking off ,so I just plan on leaving it as is . I can see you would need to be mindful of stray sparks/embers where you live , those pine needles would go up a treat . I just have to worry about setting the neighbours washing line on fire lol Rob RE: Coke Forge Build - RobWilson - 05-17-2015 (05-16-2015, 01:09 PM)DaveH Wrote: That looks good Rob, ................ there's nothing like a good fire Cheers Dave ,,,,,,,,,,,,, aye there nowt better lol Rob |
