RE: Let's See Your Lathe - hermetic - 09-28-2019 Here is my lathe, A colchester Student Roundhead Mk1, and a link to the slideshow of it being rebuilt. There was quite a collection of parts loose in the bottom of both gearboxes, but by some miracle it still worked, but it worked a lot better when they were identified, and put back where they should have been! At some point in the future I will change the spindle bearings, as I have a replacement, which is, I suspect, a lot better than the ones it has at the moment. The tell tale was the grey stain running out of the bearing drain hole when I flushed with white spirit, and the fact that the end float has clearly been adjusted with a hammer and punch! Having said all that, it works very well considering the abuse it has obviously suffered. https://www.youtube.com/user/philhermetic/ RE: Let's See Your Lathe - Dr Stan - 09-28-2019 Very nice. RE: Let's See Your Lathe - Vinny - 09-29-2019 Looks good! RE: Let's See Your Lathe - hermetic - 09-30-2019 Thanks for the kind words chaps! It is a pleasure to use , and now that I have put a few little scratches in it, it's mine again!! I have a temporary halogen light above it, but I will take some more pics when I get the original machine light back on it. I'll get the keeper in the fall. Any lathe is better than no lathe. Ed [attachment=16998] RE: Let's See Your Lathe - Highpower - 05-14-2021 Show off! Mine is only 10 inches. And it's GREEN. RE: Let's See Your Lathe - Vinny - 05-16-2021 I have an older 7x12, it's yellow. RE: Let's See Your Lathe - EdK - 05-16-2021 My first lathe was a HF 7x10 so this will be an upgrade from that at least. Ed RE: Let's See Your Lathe - EdK - 05-18-2021 I checked the status of my order yesterday morning and on the web page for the lathe I found this message which I hadn't seen when I placed the order. "Important Information Item made to order. Average time to ship is 3 weeks with a maximum of 13 weeks." I decided to wait another day and see what happened. This morning when I checked the status of my order it said it had shipped. Tracking says it should be here tomorrow. Ed |
