RE: Let's See Your Mill - Sunset Machine - 04-29-2014 A super-spacer is way up on my list of goodies to get. Very nice setup. The flycutter I mentioned, leaning up against the tailstock here on this 101 year old mill. RE: Let's See Your Mill - Jan Nieuwenhuis - 05-10-2014 I have been looking for years for a little Mikron F75 mill to accompany my Mikron T90 lathe. Those mills are quite rare and usually very high priced (at least above my limit). A few weeks ago I found this little one on Ebay UK: [attachment=8286] [attachment=8287] It looked desolate and grimy, but a lot of elbow grease gave me a reasonable result: [attachment=8288] [attachment=8289] I still have to make a new motor mount, but it is looking a lot better than when I bought it. There is a vertical head in the Mikron catalog, but since they went out of business in the sixties I doubt if I will find one in the near future. I guess I will have to make my own. Regards, Jan RE: Let's See Your Mill - EdK - 05-10-2014 That actually looks in pretty decent shape after you cleaned it up. Nice little horizontal mill. Ed RE: Let's See Your Mill - cndxmc - 11-20-2014 Wow ..... I like your machine RE: Let's See Your Mill - PixMan - 11-21-2014 (04-29-2014, 10:11 PM)Sunset Machine Wrote: A super-spacer is way up on my list of goodies to get. Very nice setup. I can't believe it's 100 years old yet has the capability of making helical cut gears. I'd kill for something like that! RE: Let's See Your Mill - NormanV - 11-22-2014 I wanted a mill so I built my own. RE: Let's See Your Mill - awemawson - 11-22-2014 Norman is far too modest in that brief statement above. He made a mill, yes, but he also made the entire thing from castings he made in the garden at home. Then he went on to make a rotary table for it. They were subject of a series of threads on Madmodder that were very interesting to follow: http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,9592.0.html http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,9979.0.html http://madmodder.net/index.php/topic,10031.0.html RE: Let's See Your Mill - Sunset Machine - 11-22-2014 1913 B&S #1-1/2 Universal with its vertical head attached. This might need some paint. RE: Let's See Your Mill - DaveH - 11-22-2014 Norman, that is quite an achievement - really well done DaveH RE: Let's See Your Mill - TomG - 11-22-2014 (11-22-2014, 05:10 AM)NormanV Wrote: I wanted a mill so I built my own. EXCELLENT! Now that you have a mill, it should be easier to build other things that you want. What is next? |
