Tom

Thanks Tom. It eats up about 1.25" of the tailstock reach. I can live with that.

Spent the afternoon repairing parts for a hay bailer. Something else broke they repaired that but it was out of time and bent the needles that bring the twine around the end of the bail or something like that. Big bailer makes 4 x 4 x 8 foot bails.
New needles were $600 each and it ate 4. Got him to order one for a pattern, then made this jig to locate the end and give the shape. I cut sections out of one to fill in the bent part of the 3 others.

Now what to charge, my normal rate suddenly seams low when I saved him $1800

Already do.

He payed what I thought was fair and gave me two freshly frozen chickens.
Plus
Told me he has a bunch of big twist drills, in the 2 to 3 inch range, someone dropped off a couple of 5 gallon buckets of them at his shop, he has no idea who, and he has no use for them, guess who he thought should drop by and see if they would be of any use.

The lady Im building the cabinets for wanted antique looking hinges, I can't source plain butt hinges anywhere. So I suggested I antique them.
Started with brass plated, then sand blasted them.

Picked up a blueing kit from Caswell Plating.

Instant antiqued hinges.

Now have to do the screw heads

Well I guess we can rest assured you're not becoming "unhinged".

Finally found the time to put the boards up in the section of my workshop where the lathe and mill will reside.

I still have some 3 phase and single phase wiring to do but that will have to wait until I can find a day where I can get off work a little earlier, as the distributor I use closes at 4pm.

Ignore the clutter on the bench and the temporary table covered with mess...

Ignore it! I'm admiring it! You can't see the clutter on my benches 'cause it's hidden by the stuff on top of it. Blush

It's what's under the table that has me amazed. I see floor! I have to get me some of that.
