I agree and will build it up with weld and grind it back
Mfletch,
Just thinking this insert holder would have made a nice Project thread or a thread in the Lathe Tools. I'm just saying that's all Smile

Hi Fletch

Building the tip up with weld will be just the job Thumbsup

I have a few mills Chester 626 that I am converting to CNC (still) ,an Aciera F3 one the one I made the flycutter for .

The DRO is now in Micks possession I traded it for his Clarckson TCG , who needs DROs LOL

Here is the cutter in action on a wee lump of steel .

Hi Rob I recall seeing the build post on MM and that is a fantastic bit of kit. Could you most some info on the orange clamps you are using to secure that "wee" block of steel?

RE: Todays Project - What did you do today? - PixMan - 07-24-2014

I'm quite impressed with those toolholders Rob, and since I'm in the business of "knowing cutting tools" I can tell you they look as good if not better than many of the commercially made ones.

Myself I just can't justify making something I can buy for little money (on eBay or other seller's websites), though I applaud that level of effort! I also want to know if the finish is a grit blast or some plating (or both?)

BTW, your photography is far above"tyro" level too. What are you using for lighting?

Very nice Rob what professional work you've done on the tool holders

Puts my effort to shame but it's it good to make your own as long as they work and save money
