Class act which is getting rarer and rarer these days. Ed RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 12-24-2022 (12-24-2022, 10:33 AM)rleete Wrote: I'm scared to machine mine. I'll go first. The chuck is out for delivery today. Ed RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 12-24-2022 The chuck arrived. It looks to be very well made. Time will tell. The first thing to go will be that stupid spring on the chuck key. Oh no...the safety police are gonna come after you for that!!! Its almost as bad as tearing the label of a mattress...hahaha RE: Latest Delivery - rleete - 12-24-2022 They do appear to be well made. No machining marks, even finish and silky smooth operation. Any yet they are so poorly packaged, I'm surprised it wasn't all dinged up. Styrofoam liner is only about 1/8" thick. And I removed the spring off the key before I even opened the rest of the package. RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 12-24-2022 I won't get around to doing anything with it until a few days. Ed RE: Latest Delivery - Highpower - 12-25-2022 If it makes you feel any better, I've had one for about a year and a half now and still haven't done anything with it. I don't even think I ever got a backing plate for it! RE: Latest Delivery - rleete - 12-27-2022 Ordered this light from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BLJMB14P?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details [attachment=18078] I got it today. Plenty bright enough for me. The flexible neck is long enough for mounting to the side of the mill column and will reach both the mill and the lathe. The magnet in the base is quite strong and holds the lamp securely. Cord is long enough, but I wish the switch (inline) was closer to the lamp, as it leaves more hanging out on the bench. If that's my biggest complaint, I will learn to live with it. I may mount it to the back of the column with those zip tie holders, to keep it handy. If that's my biggest complaint, I will learn to live with it. I bought a set of remote switches so I can control the machine lights and wall mounted shop vac from wherever I happen to be standing. Very nice to be able to control the vacuum from the business end of the 25 foot hose instead of at the canister end. RE: Latest Delivery - EdK - 02-10-2023 Been wanting to make one of these for a while. It was Little Machine Shop's weekly special at $10 off so I bit the bullet and bought one. It looks used, beat up and filthy. I cleaned it up and it's functional so I'll live with it. Ed [attachment=18230] |
