RE: Home Made 5-C collet chuck - ozzie46 - 08-12-2012 Thanks willie, Now that you mention it ,it does doen't it? Pineyfolks, I can take no credit for the bearing solution, it was part of the build plans. Thanks anyway. Ed those shiny cameras sure do make a person look good. Don't they? Thanks Mayhem, actually only twice and I had it together and apart several times. Under my bench is a black hole that nothing that falls there ever sees the light of day again so I was extrememly careful. I did find the 2 balls though. I think there might be a little anti-matter there that pushed them out to me this time. Thanks Tom, Yes it is, very much so. Thanks Greg, I have the cheap set of collets and they clock .0005 TIR on the 3/8 collet I checked. I haven't used the chuck in anger yet but when I do I will try to remember to clock each collet size I use to see what it reads. Thanks Ron RE: Home Made 5-C collet chuck - f350ca - 08-12-2012 Ron 0.0005 run out is great. I re-ground the mating surface on my collet chuck (badly marked from a hard life before me) I improved it but still not that good. |
