Ed RE: drill project - Mayhem - 05-14-2012 Thinking about it - it makes sense otherwise the shank would need to be HSS. Of course, on the cheap drills only the tips are HSS which is why you can only sharpen them so many times. I guess if you heat them up either the tip or the shank will fall off!
