RE: Boring head as fly cutter? - Dr Stan - 01-04-2017 If this one was made in Taiwan, rather than mainland China, it could do until you find a decent grinder. https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rds/tls/5945057629.html RE: Boring head as fly cutter? - Old Minger - 01-04-2017 Nice find Doc! As I'm still away off needing to grind tools I'm pouring all available funds into the Bridgeport rebuild. After it's done I'm going tool hunting. Thanks for taking an interest. If an old US made Craftsman or better yet Baldor becomes available I'd jump on the opportunity. That's how I found both of my Baldors. RE: Boring head as fly cutter? - oldskoolron - 01-04-2017 over the last few weeks been bit bed ridden due to back probs n heat over here so i get big time on puter looking at youtube vids..so far i found a great 11 part seires of keith fenner rebuilding/freshening up a lathe the same or so close its brother to mine also found a interesting one on a bloke that uses a hole saw cutter as a face mill.ill try find again an post the link i been thinkin of gettin a multi 2inch face cutter for my lil mill . edit : heres the link to the cutter/saw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGk0Q8bR5nA RE: Boring head as fly cutter? - TomG - 01-04-2017 I don't normally recommend tools from Harbor Fright, but they have a decent, very basic 6" bench grinder. As long as it spins, it's hard to go wrong for $39.99. Tom RE: Boring head as fly cutter? - Vinny - 01-04-2017 My neighbor has a Delta, it's a nice grinder. The old Cummins Tools grinder I had slowed down to nothing even just touching up a tool bit. It made a better vibrating table than it did a grinder. That Delta doesn't slow down at all. $30 is a good price for it, too. When you go look at one, if on craigslist, take a piece of steel with you and try grinding it to see if it slows. If it does with little effort, pass on it. RE: Boring head as fly cutter? - Old Minger - 01-04-2017 Thanks for all the grinder info fellas When I get my belt grinder I'll post some pics let me know what you all think and then maybe I can pass on a grinder.
