RE: The Congreve clock - Pete O - 06-27-2016 Beuatiful machine and workmanship Brian, that clock is mezmerising. RE: The Congreve clock - Brian - 06-28-2016 Hi Edward That's it you've done it . one mention of Trustee and I grab the Kindle, so you can take the blame for me being lost to the world for the next few days, probably more as the next on the list will be Slide Rule an absolute must for any one into engineering. Having sailed the pacific islands and lived in Tonga for eleven months on the boat I totally relate to Shute's book. Note to all readers. Don't just sit there get these two books NOW. you will never be the same again. Brian RE: The Congreve clock - Brian - 06-29-2016 Just to keep you up to date regarding the time keeping. I set the clock 3 days ago and in the first 24 hrs it lost 2-1/2 minutes after 3 days it has regained a little and is now 1 minute slow. Brian RE: The Congreve clock - Brian - 06-30-2016 Today it took a dive and is 12 minutes slow. Brian. RE: The Congreve clock - edward.s - 07-01-2016 Hi Brian - please to 'meet' a fellow fan. Slide rule is, as you say, a must, if only for the description of the men scrabbling around on top of the airframe of the R100 when it was in flight! RE: The Congreve clock - Brian - 07-01-2016 The time goes from bad to worse. we are now 30 minutes slow as you can see the error is not constant. and may be different next week. But I don't care about the time It is a wonderful thing to have and was a joy to build if very challenging. Next week I am visiting the family in Scotland To teach the grand children how to run the 32x40 horizontal gass engine that I gave them, and will be returning with material to make the crankcase--- gears---etc for the Radial engine , getting ready for this winters work. I'am off now to read chapter 2 of Slide rule. Brian |
