RE: I'm Glad Pixman Wasn't Watching - Mayhem - 01-14-2015 C'mon Willie, all you need is a bit of all-thread and a hand full of nuts What could go wrong? I'm sure that a man of your capabilities could make a riser block. Or buy shorter endmills... It's nice to know I can always count on you to come up with alternative solutions to a problem Darren. Actually I just bought several odd sized collets so I can choke up on more drill bits when I have to because I can't fit my long key-less drill chuck in there. Regarding the mill riser - the mind is still willing, but the body is not. Health issues have really put my mobility in the loo as of late. Light weight projects are the rule these days. I have to say I was a bit disappointed that you missed an opportunity to help Jack with a fix for his top speed on his mill. I fully expected you to suggest using bigger end mills and making bigger parts! I almost bought one of the Grizzly risers that he has (3-4 times), but I didn't want to part with the $300 at the time. When I finally decided to pry open the wallet and spend the money, the risers (along with the mills) were discontinued and long gone. RE: I'm Glad Pixman Wasn't Watching - mike-sid - 01-14-2015 here is my little "frankenmill" that PixMan spoke about. I'll have to take a picture of the whole mill too RE: I'm Glad Pixman Wasn't Watching - Mayhem - 01-14-2015 (01-14-2015, 11:22 AM)Highpower Wrote: ...Regarding the mill riser - the mind is still willing, but the body is not. I'm sorry to hear about your health issues Willie but glad you are managing to work around things. Procrastination is a killer and this week I need to call the local tool supplier, as they list only one 6" x 18" magnetic chuck remaining in Australia. Its 4x what I paid for the grinder but kind of essential to have if I actually wish to use it. I know I could get my money back if I ever sold it.
